What is your role at The Benefit Doctor?
As an employee benefits broker at The Benefit Doctor, I help businesses build custom benefits packages that maximize the value of their employee benefits. I work closely with employers to ensure their benefit offerings are both strategic and well understood by employees.
What do you love most about supporting our clients?
I love building personal relationships with our clients and understanding their unique needs. It’s especially rewarding to see claims paid because it means the benefits we’ve put in place are truly working—providing real support when employees and their families need it most.
What is a common challenge you help solve?
A common problem we solve is the confusion surrounding health insurance and employee benefits. We focus on education to create a smooth, positive experience—helping employees fully understand their benefits, appreciate the value their employer provides, and feel confident in their coverage.
What’s one thing clients / HR teams don’t realize about what you do?
Many clients and HR teams don’t realize how much work happens behind the scenes to ensure their benefits run smoothly. From analyzing plans and troubleshooting carrier issues to proactively managing high-cost claims and providing ongoing support, we’re continuously working to make their benefits experience as seamless and effective as possible.
What makes BenDoc's approach different from other brokers in your opinion?
What sets BenDoc apart is our commitment to education, a seamless enrollment experience, and year-round support. We don’t just show up at renewal—we’re actively involved in making benefits easier for both employers and employees, ensuring they understand, appreciate, and maximize the value of their coverage.
Fun fact about you outside of work?
Before transitioning to the insurance industry, I spent 27 years as a licensed physical therapist, which gives me a unique perspective on healthcare from both the provider and patient sides. Outside of work, I’m a gym enthusiast and have competed in seven bodybuilding competitions. I also have three amazing kids—two sons serving in the Army and a daughter who teaches high school science. I’m always up for a beach day and much prefer warm weather over cold—give me sunshine any day!
Advice for anyone trying to create change and make an impact?
Creating change and making an impact starts with truly understanding the needs of the people you’re trying to help. Listen first, educate where needed, and stay persistent—real change doesn’t happen overnight. Small, consistent actions add up, and when you focus on doing the right thing, the impact follows.
