What is your role at The Benefit Doctor?

I am a benefit advisor who specializes in employee education and enrollment experience. I believe that anyone can build a benefit package but not everyone can build THE benefit package that an employer actually wants and needs. I provide exceptional education using employee engagement that allows employees to learn and appreciate their medical coverage. My clients say that my employee meetings cause high fives, hugs and thank you’s to the owner and HR staff instead of a meeting that used to cause confusion and frustration. Thru my expertise at the education meetings, the win is there for the employer and the employees.

What do you love most about supporting our clients?

I think that solving problems is an amazing way of building a strong relationship with our clients. We become friends. I care about those I serve and when we work thru an issues, it helps to create trust…my clients know I will be there for them when they need.

What is a common challenge you help solve?

Employee education can make or break an employers benefit offering. Employers use valuable resources to offer medical benefits and if the employees don’t understand or appreciate what they have access to, it is a loss. My office builds incredible insurance plans, I understand those plans and how they work. I get to take the insurance concept and explain it in a way that allows employees to see themselves and realize what is in it for them. Employees leave my meetings looking for their HR staff and owners to high five them.

What’s one thing clients / HR teams don’t realize about what you do?

Asking questions and listening are one of the most important things that I do. I want to know what is important to you. I want you to know that your desires are important and I will work to help you create your dream benefits package. If you don’t know what you want, I will help you dream.

What makes BenDoc's approach different from other brokers in your opinion?

We are a group of caring individuals who work toward excellence in all we do. We choose who we work with and are serious about making sure that we make a measurable difference. If we don’t feel like we are a good fit for a client we are not afraid to say it.

Fun fact about you outside of work?

I like to have fun. My family loves to cruise. We make it a goal to get a truancy letter each year from our kids school – we think travel and experiences should be a big part of growing up. I read constantly and don’t remember enough but I enjoy all of it. I can organize anything and love the minimalist lifestyle.

Advice for anyone trying to create change and make an impact?

Be authentic. Don’t be afraid to be different…it is your super power. Ask questions like a 5 year old that doesn’t want to go to bed. Information will help you solve to problems of the world.
